OK i am trying to do a new thing this year
trying to help out with some life skills for all you people out there in the land of the Internet
maybe this will some how save the world
(maybe it will make somebody think hmmm i don't want everything handed to me,
i want to have that feeling of fuck i did that !!!)
it is call "how to ....."
this week is how to tie-dye
step 1. pick a shirt that you want some buzzy colours
step 2. get all your supplies
t-shirt,rubber gloves, glad rap, dye, salt, plastic bags, fork,a stick, newspaper, string or rubber bands and something to dye it in
step 3. wash shirt so it can absorber the dye better (leave it damp)
step 4. glad wrap the area that you are working to you don't get wasted from your mum or your missis for fucking up their best table (little tip if you wipe down the table 1st with a wet rag the wrap will stick hard out )
step 5. get your fork pick where you want the middle of your buzzy spiral and start to spin(just like when you are eating spaghetti
step 6. make the shirt into a round shape once you have finished spinning
steep 7. time to tie i used shoe laces but you can use string rubber bands anything really wrap one way round tie a knot
step 8. do it the other way like so
step 9 then cut flappy bits off
step 10. fill container with hot water
step 11. mix in 5 lager table spoons of salt into the water
step 12. time to put gloves on now mix dye in alittle bit of water in another container
(i got a stick from the tree out side to give my shirts the real hippy feel)
step 13 . mix dye into the water until it is all sweet
step 14. time to start dyeing what you want to do is dip the shirt a 1/3 of the way in and you want to keep it moving around so that the dye get deep into the shirt (you want to do this for as long as possible 10 min's at the least, the long the better )
step 15 . repeat with as many colours as you want
i used 3 yellow red and blue ( make sure you dye lightest to darkest colours or it will cross contaminate )
(helpful hint if you want to dye more than one shirt at a time you can pack them all in and just shake the box/bowl/container around for 10 mins. just make sure the water leave isn't to high so you can just sit them in there )
step 16. booyaah!!! you are done kindof (well the dyeing part ) look at that that rules
step 17. now wrap in a plastic bag
step 18. now wrap in another plastic bag then put in a cool place over night
so they can cook away and do there magic for 24 hours
step 19. 24 hour has passed take out out of bags
step 20. wash hard out until there is no dye coming out
step 21. put in washing machine on rinse cycle
step 22. hang out to dry in shaded area
step 23. you have finished
good work i am real proud of you i knew you could do it !!!!
now go out and wear that shirt with pride !!
